Australian National University (ANU)
Australian National University (ANU), located in Canberra, is one of Australia’s top public research universities and consistently ranks among the world’s best. It has over 17,000 students from ~100 countries, of whom about 6,500 are international, giving a highly diverse campus environment. For international students, fees are high, particularly for research and postgraduate programmes (in 2025, some HDR (Higher Degree Research) fees are AUD 44,670-59,750/year, depending on the faculty). Undergraduate international fees are also substantial, often around AUD 39,000/year or more depending on the course. Living costs, visa, insurance etc. add further expense. While ranking well in QS (#32) and THE (#73), ANU offers strong research reputation, global networks, and good employability, though the financial burden is significant for overseas students.
